Welcome to Big Sunny Joy.
It is named after our dogs who insist on taking me out for a walk every day.
We walk through nearby fields which given a chance should be filled with life. Every spring we witness the sad spectacle of it being thoughtlessly destroyed.
The plovers, oyster catchers, yellowhammers, skylarks, curlews, and all the other species that try to return home have to endure a mechanical, industrial, chemical onslaught which in which it is almost impossible to survive.
We witness how millions of years of evolution can no longer cope with us. How every year, spring is effectively killed, and the fields change from joy full places to silent dead places.
We are loosing our natural world, and most people are too busy to see it.
This sad process is happening everywhere. Almost certainly near you too.
This process has really accelerated in recent years, but it was around 2013 that we started to see that here it had become really out of control. Every year it gets worse.
Watching this I was forced to confront my own feeling of powerlessness to change this situation. I became depressed and experienced a feeling of hopelessness. A feeling that many of us are now experiencing throughout the world.
Looking at the dead man made deserts around us, I made a decision and resolved to take personal responsibility for my own bit of the world with direct personal action to make it as life supporting as possible.
Funnily enough, as an unexpected by product of this, I have gone a long way on the path to healing myself too. For there is something empowering and ultimately fulfilling in taking the necessary steps to help.
In this time of deep crisis for many people, maybe something in this message can be of use to you too. Everything is interconnected. No man or woman is an island.
Why not try to help the nature around you. Help heal it, and you may just help heal yourself too.
This is a critical time for our natural world. Because of that, it has become a critical time for us too.
If you want more life, try helping the life around you, and I am pretty sure you will find it.
