''No matter how far you have travelled down the wrong road , turn back''...(old Turkish Proverb)
You may recall that I recently spoke about our ability to choose whether we are positive or negative particles in the tidal wave of humanity engulfing the world.
You may be wondering what I am talking about, and what this has to do with environmentalism and protecting our biosphere. You may find the concept not concrete enough, so here is another perspective , an exert from the latest living planet report (www.panda.org).
I refer to comments made in the above report by Marco Lambertni , which I think sum the situation up very effectively.
"' We need to transition to an approach that decoupleshuman and economic development from environmental degradation...perhaps the deepest cultural and behavioural shift ever experienced by any generation'.''
He then goes further...
'' These changes are upon us, and if we are awed by the scale of the challenges that this generation is facing, we should be equally motivated by the unprecedented opportunity to build a future in harmony with the planet''.
Thank you Mr Lambertni.
In essence we now have a choice at a defining moment in our history as a species. Do we consciously change, and evolve, or do we blindly follow the same path knowing it leads to destruction.
We can now consciously choose to change and evolve. We can set a new course now that we can recognise that the one we are currently on is no longer a good or wise choice.
That choice to persue harmony, to value and protect what is divine, could be one of the most unifying positive choices we as individuals or as a species could make.
When we evolve and transcend our current limitations of character and nature , we will open the floodgates to joy.
Wherever you are in the world, I wish you a very happy 2017.
